The first appointment, a standard 50 minute session, is intended to understand your reasons for seeking therapy. We’ll spend some time discussing your concerns, when difficulties began, how they developed and the impacts on your life. We’ll also explore other factors that might be contributing including, work and/or school, life stress, relationships, family factors and your life experiences. Most importantly, we will finish by negotiating some initial goals for working together.
Length of therapy will be determined by a range of factors including, the nature of difficulties for treatment, frequency and intensity of symptoms, whether or not there is more than one condition that’s the focus of therapy and a client’s readiness to work on and apply strategies outside of sessions.
This will form part of an ongoing conversation between you and your therapist.
*A referral is not required to book an appointment with myself.
